SILVERCREEKS WALK-OFF THE PANTHERS TO EARN A SPOT IN THE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

The Guelph Silvercreeks took Friday's League Semi-Final game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Kitchener Jr Panthers. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Ryan Cutten drew a walk, scoring one run.



Guelph came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the fourth.



Kitchener Jr Panthers got on the board in the top of the second inning after H Opyc singled, L McTague walked, and B Campbell walked, each scoring one run.



The Silvercreeks scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to right field by Cutten.



In the bottom of the eighth inning, Guelph went back into the lead after Owen Sartor hit a sacrifice fly, and Cutten walked, each scoring one run.



Jackson Markwood earned the win for Guelph. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out none and walking one. G Mclean took the loss for the Kitchener Jr Panthers. The reliever went one inning, surrendering two runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking two. Ethan Rampersad led things off on the bump for Guelph. They gave up two hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four and walking six. R Heu led things off on the bump for Kitchener. They surrendered eight hits and five runs over six innings, striking out four and walking four. Max Rutherford tossed two innings of zero-run ball for Guelph in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out five and walking one.



The Guelph Silvercreeks piled up nine hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Alex Camilo led Guelph with three hits in four at bats. Cutten led the Silvercreeks with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Guelph had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Quinn Gammage and Aidan Edmunds led the team with two bases on balls each. Chase Williams stole two bases. The Silvercreeks turned one double play in the game.



The victory secured Guelph's spot in the ICBA Championship Final. The Creeks will face the Welland Junior Jackfish on Sunday July 28 at Hastings Stadium for the league crown.
