GAME RECAP VS LONDON



 


CREEKS COME BACK TO DEFEAT THE BADGERS

Despite trailing by as many as six runs, the Guelph Silvercreeks rallied to defeat London Badgers 12-11 on Friday.



Guelph built a 4-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off the London charge. London scored three runs on a home run in the seventh inning.



London jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Noah Grant singled, scoring one run, Carson Lumley singled, scoring two runs, Blake Connors hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Charlie Bowman drew a walk, scoring one run, and Alex Brown drew a walk, scoring one run.



Guelph scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning. Sawyer Whitaker drew a walk, scoring one run, Quinn Gammage drew a walk, scoring one run, Zach Martens singled, scoring two runs, Nicholas Killingbeck singled, scoring one run, and Alex Wickett singled, scoring one run.



A single by Brown gave London the lead, 7-6, in the top of the third.



Wickett singled, which helped the Silvercreeks tie the game at seven in the bottom of the third.



The Badgers took the lead in the top of the fourth. Rhys Jenkyn singled, scoring one run, to give London the advantage, 8-7.



Guelph flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 12-8 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Jackson Groves that drove in two.



Grant homered to left field, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh for the London Badgers.



Ethan Rampersad earned the win for Guelph. They surrendered four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Max Rutherford pitched three and one-third innings in relief for the Silvercreeks. They allowed three hits and two runs while, striking out five and walking two. Roman Sawchuk took the loss for London Juniors 22u. The reliever went two and one-third innings, allowing five runs on four hits, striking out three and walking five. Logan Miziolek led things off on the bump for Guelph. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and six runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking six. Noah Garrah opened the game for London. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out two and walking seven.



The Silvercreeks accumulated 11 hits in the game. Martens led Guelph with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Martens, Ryan Cutten, Wickett, and Groves each collected two hits for the Silvercreeks. Gammage paced Guelph with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 12 walks for the game.



The Guelph Silvercreeks welcome the Brantford JR Redsox on Sunday for a double-header at venerable Hastings Stadium. First game begins at 12:00 pm.
