GUELPH COMES UP SHORT IN A HIGHWAY 7 SLUG-FEST

The Guelph Silvercreeks fell 14-10 to Kitchener Jr. Panthers on Tuesday at Jack Couch Park despite out-hitting them 13 to 10. Ryan Cutten and Alex Wickett each collected three hits for the Guelph Silvercreeks.



Guelph collected 13 hits and Kitchener had 10 in the high-scoring affair.



The Silvercreeks were the first to get on the board in the first when Jackson Groves singled, scoring two runs.



Guelph added one run in the second after Wickett doubled.



Kitchener flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 5-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field by C Reidel that drove in four.



Guelph tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a triple by Quinn Gammage, a single by Kyle Magdic, and a single by Owen Sartor.



The Silvercreeks took the lead, 10-8, in the top of the seventh thanks to singles by Wickett, and Cutten.



Kitchener Jr Panthers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the seventh, scoring six runs on three hits to take a 14-10 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to center field by Reidel that drove in four.



Nelson Mercado started on the bump for Guelph. They allowed two hits and five runs over two innings, striking out two and walking four. S Salazar stepped on the mound first for the Kitchener Jr Panthers. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one.



Guelph piled up 13 hits in the game. Gammage, Wickett, and Groves each drove in two runs for the Silvercreeks. Sawyer Whitaker collected two hits for Guelph in five at bats.



Next up for the Silvercreeks is a game at London Badgers on Thursday night.
