CREEKS CLINCH DIVISION PENNANT

The Guelph Silvercreeks clinched the ICBA 22U Division Pennant with a victory over the Brantford JR Redsox 9-6 on Sunday at David E. Hastings Stadium.



The Silvercreeks opened the scoring in the first after Jackson Groves singled, scoring two runs.



Guelph added one run in the second after Aidan Edmunds singled.



Brantford JR Redsox offence exploded in the top of the third, scoring six runs on one hit to take a 6-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.



The Guelph Silvercreeks flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 8-6 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Owen Sartor on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.



Matt Rumney earned the win for the Guelph Silvercreeks. The reliever surrendered two hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none. Justin Taylor took the loss for the Brantford JR Redsox. The starting pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out none and walking three. Jackson Markwood opened the game for Guelph. They allowed two hits and six runs (two earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four.



The Silvercreeks collected nine hits in the game. Edmunds and Chase Williams were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Guelph while hitting back-to-back. Edmunds and Groves each drove in two runs for the Silvercreeks. Williams stole three bases. The Silvercreeks stole four bases in the game.



Next up for the Guelph Silvercreeks is the Provincial Eliminations Tournament. Guelph opens against the East York Bulldogs on Friday July 19th at 10:00 am at Hastings Stadium.
